Weekly Trade Review

This was the debut week for the new account. After depositing $10,000 on August 18, we started with light position sizing to test the waters. The main trading action took place from Wednesday to Friday (Aug 20–21), exclusively on the long side for gold — perfectly in sync with this powerful bullish move.

Trade 1: Aug 18 – Probe Position

Shortly after the account was activated in the early hours of August 18, we entered a 0.03 lot long at 4416.763 as a test position, closing for a modest $0.09 profit. The purpose was to verify the platform’s execution speed and slippage characteristics before committing more size.

Trade 2: Aug 19 – Adding After the 4400 Breakout

Profit: $146.64

On the afternoon of August 19, gold broke decisively above the 4400 psychological level and rallied hard. The trend signal was unmistakable. We entered a 0.03 lot long at 4407.296 and rode the move up to 4456.178, capturing $146.64 — our second-biggest winner of the week.

The core logic here was trend following after a key resistance breakout. The 4400 level served as both a psychological round number and prior resistance; once it gave way, the path higher opened up quickly. Bullish moving average alignment and a MACD golden cross confirmed the momentum had staying power.

Trade 3: Aug 20 – Buying the Dip

Profit: $52.05

In the early hours of August 20, gold pulled back briefly near 4450 and found support. We entered a 0.02 lot long at 4466.522, and as price bounced back to 4492.545 we locked in $52.05. This was a classic pullback buying opportunity in an uptrend.

Trade 4: Aug 21 – Big Winner on the 4500 Breakout

Profit: $161.52 (Largest trade of the week)

During the morning session of August 21, gold blasted through the 4500 level, igniting a new acceleration phase. We entered a 0.03 lot long at 4527.734 and rode the surge all the way up to 4581.574, banking $161.52 on a single trade — a remarkable return on risk.

This was the highlight of the week and the purest expression of our strategy: adding to positions after key round-number breakouts. With 4500 taken out, bullish sentiment exploded, capital flooded in, and the trend following strategy shined brightest in this type of runaway move.

Trades 5 & 6: Aug 21 – Precision Scalps

Later on August 21, we took two quick 0.02 lot long scalps — one at 4585.71 and another at 4607.38 — each netting $0.06. These were ultra-short probes designed to gauge whether the elevated price levels had enough follow-through for larger positions.

Strategy Overview

This account employs a trend following strategy with the following core principles:

  • Focused instrument: Exclusively trading gold (XAUUSD) — deep expertise in one instrument beats spreading yourself thin.
  • Directional discipline: Only long, no shorts. We ride the major trend and don’t try to pick tops.
  • Light sizing initially: Starting with 0.02–0.03 lots to validate the strategy while managing risk.
  • Key-level breakouts: Adding aggressively when round numbers like 4400 and 4500 give way, maximizing risk-reward.
  • Strict stop-losses: Every trade carries a stop, with per-trade risk capped at 1% of account equity.

A 100% win rate across 6 trades in the first week is partly a gift from gold’s strong bullish trend, and partly validation that the trend following approach works beautifully in directional markets. That said, a perfect win rate won’t persist forever. What we’re really after is a consistently positive expectancy over the long run, not a flawless short-term record.

Outlook for Next Week

Gold has already cleared the 4600 level this week, and the bullish trend is undeniable. From a technical perspective:

  • Weekly chart: consecutive bullish candles, moving averages in clean bullish alignment
  • Daily chart: price trending along the 5-day moving average with strong momentum
  • Above 4600, the next target zone is 4700–4800

Game plan for next week:

  1. Buy the dips: Look for long entries on pullbacks toward the 4550–4580 support zone.
  2. Watch 4600 as support: If price retests this level and holds, treat it as a high-probability add opportunity.
  3. Gradually increase position size: After a successful first week, we can scale up to 0.05 lots per trade.
  4. Never skip risk management: No matter how clear the setup looks, stops are non-negotiable.

The gold bull market is in full swing. Looking forward to another strong week ahead!
